And I feel really bad for him. I do. First, fumble-itis. Then, the injury. Finally, he works his way into a fine training camp and it looks like he's ready to shine...
And as quickly as that it's all over.
I hate it when someone this talented has to hang it up this early -- after playing football all his life for his shot in the NFL. It's heart-wrenching.
But David Wilson is a few million dollars richer than me, so I guess I'll get over it.
Andre Williams looked fantastic in his first pre-season game.One touchdown to go with his 6.9 yards per carry. It's well-documented that he can't catch and that he's playing in a West Coast offense. But the way I see it The Giants are a two-back team and this guy may well get plenty of playing time if he keeps performing at this level.
I'm still waiting to select my kicker. With Blair Walsh, Nick Novak, and Robbie Gould atop the free agent list, there's simply no urgency until at least one of them is picked up off waivers. I can wait until I'm clear who I want to drop between Al Blue, Mark Ingram, Andre Williams, and possibly Justin Hunter.
I'm treating the backup quarterback position much the same way. Atop the list are Eli Manning, Joe Flacco, and E.J. Manuel. Peyton Manning's bye is on Week 4. So, again, if I see one of these guys picked up I'll go ahead and hit the waiver wire. Ultimately I can wait until Week Four...
